[autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] is a heavyweight contender who can strike and pull off slick submissions.
In his second UFC fight, Gane took on Don’Tale Mayes at UFC on ESPN+ 20 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on October 26, 2019.
The two heavyweights attempted heavy strikes often in the opening round, as both men tried to land the shot to end the fight early. Gane’s movement is quicker than most heavyweights, which created problems for his opponent as the fight wore on.
Gane’s versatile striking wore down Mayes throughout the first two rounds, until he would find the opportunity to end the fight late in the final round. Gane secured a takedown with less than 50 seconds in the third and saw the opportunity for a heel hook that forced Mayes to tap with 13 seconds left in the fight.
Gane (8-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) returns to action on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 190 to face Alexander Volkov (33-8 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in the main event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Before he meets Volkov, relive Gane’s well-rounded performance against Mayes in the video above.
