Roxanne Modafferi scored a monumental upset victory over formerly undefeated flyweight star Maycee Barber in the final prelim bout on the UFC 246 card on Saturday night, but Barber showed remarkable toughness to finish all three rounds after suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury early in the second round.
Modafferi caught Barber with a light punch that shouldn’t have done much damage, but as Barber backed away her left knee buckled and she fell to the mat. Modafferi, who took control in the opening round to get ahead on the scorecard early, took advantage of Barber’s weakness and comfortably won the second round.

Prior to the start of the third round, a doctor entered the octagon to perform a quick examination on Barber’s injured knee – which stunned commentator Joe Rogan – and told the referee that had a “small partial ACL tear” and was fine to continue the fight.
Have you ever seen something like this before? Ridiculous. #UFC246 pic.twitter.com/duvz2iSIEA

Rogan joked that the doctor must have been a “human MRI” machine, and said that he had never seen a doctor interrupting to check such an injury before. UFC fighters and fans alike couldn’t believe it.

That entire sequence where the doctor unnecessarily started checking Maycee Barbers knee, then Joe Rogan randomly started shouting “we’ve never seen that happen to a man” on commentary is one of the most bizarre things I’ve seen in the UFC in years. #UFC246

Watching UFC and the doctor says, “she’s got a minor ACL tear, she’s fine.”
😳
This sport is NEXT LEVEL toughness.

"She's got a small partial ACL tear, she's fine" is something that a doctor just said after looking at a knee for 2 seconds, and then the fight continued, UFC IS WILD

Never in my life have I seen a doctor diagnose an injury as quickly as this dude just did in the UFC prelims. Hopped in the octagon, felt the knee for 5 seconds and was like “she’s got a small partial ACL tear, she’s good to go.” Awight then.
