TORONTO – The first pay-per-view main event of 2024 is official after [autotag]Sean Strickland[/autotag] and [autotag]Dricus Du Plessis[/autotag] made weight for Saturday’s UFC 297 title fight.
The UFC returns to Toronto for the first time in more than five years with Strickland (28-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) set to put his middleweight title on the line against Du Plessis (20-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in the pay-per-view headliner at Scotiabank Arena (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) .
Before they can step in the cage, however, the champion and challenger had to make weight. They did that Friday at the UFC host hotel, where Strickland registered at 184.75 pounds. Du Plessis tipped the scale at 185 pounds even for his first UFC title opportunity.
