UFC 290 ‘Embedded,’ No. 3: Bo Nickal gets the bad news about (potential) fight cancellation

Bo Nickal took the news hard upon learning he might be off UFC 290 – but all turned out well.

The UFC is back with its eighth pay-per-view of the year, which means the popular “Embedded” fight-week video series is here to document what’s happening behind the scenes.

UFC 290 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ABC/ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+. The event coincides with International Fight Week and is headlined by two title fights.

In the main event, UFC featherweight champion [autotag]Alexander Volkanovski[/autotag] (25-2 MMA, 12-1 UFC) competes in a unification bout against interim titleholder [autotag]Yair Rodriguez[/autotag] (15-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC).

Before the featherweights throw down, the UFC flyweight title will be on the line as champion [autotag]Brandon Moreno[/autotag] (21-6-2 MMA, 10-3-2 UFC) faces off with [autotag]Alexandre Pantoja[/autotag] (25-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC) for a third time.

Also on the card, [autotag]Dricus Du Plessis[/autotag] (19-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and [autotag]Robert Whittaker[/autotag] (24-6 MMA, 15-5 UFC) jostle for position in atop the UFC middleweight rankings in a fight that could very well earn the victor a title shot.

The second episode of “Embedded” follows the featured fighters while they get ready for fight night. Here is the UFC’s description of the episode from YouTube:

Bo Nickal gets bad news. Champ Brandon Moreno trains in private; Alexandre Pantoja and Yair Rodriguez visit the PI. Champ Alexander Volkanovski swings big. Robert Whittaker readies for danger.
