UFC 266 is one bout smaller due to a positive COVID-19 test.
The women’s flyweight fight between [autotag]Manon Fiorot[/autotag] and [autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] will no longer happen as part of Saturday’s card. The bout was canceled Wednesday after Fiorot (who is asymptomatic) and her team tested positive for COVID-19.
A person with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the cancellation after an initial report by ESPN Deportes. The person, who asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement, added the matchup is expected to remain intact and be rescheduled for the promotion’s Oct. 16 event in Las Vegas.
France’s Fiorot (7-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has dominated thus far in her promotional stint, as she’s notched two second-round knockouts through as many UFC appearances. Meanwhile, Bueno Silva (7-1-1 MMA, 1-1-1 UFC) has accumulated mixed results thus far in her UFC tenure with one win, one loss, and one draw.
