The UFC is back Saturday night with a killer pay-per-view event (which you can order on ESPN+) from Las Vegas that closes out with three title fights in a row and has some other good fights, too.
Yeah, this should be fun a night of fights.
Let’s take a look at four reasons why you should watch UFC 259.
1. Dominick Cruz returns.
The former bantamweight champ will be back in the Octagon for just the second time since he lost his belt to Cody Garbrandt way back in 2016. Cruz will be squaring off with Casey Kenney in the featured prelim, which is a pretty fun free fight before the start of the pay per view. The last time we saw Cruz was back in May of 2020 when he lost to Henry Cejudo in their title fight that Cruz thought was stopped a little too early.
2. Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling should be fantastic.
Yan puts his bantamweight belt up against Sterling in a fight between two guys who have been pretty dominant as of late. Yan’s last two wins came via KO (head kick) of the great Urijah Faber and then last July he knocked out the great Jose Aldo with punches in the fifth round of their title fight. So yeah, he is a pretty bad dude who will be looking for another finish Saturday night.
3. The GOAT is back.
I’m talking about Amanda Nunes, of course, who is putting her featherweight belt on the line against Megan Anderson. Nunes is must-see TV whenever she’s in the Octagon, as she hasn’t lost a fight since 2014 and has wins over some of the best to have ever done it.
4. Israel Adesanya looks to make history.
Adesanya, the middleweight champ, is stepping up a weight class to take on light-heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz. A win would make Adesanya the first-ever undefeated, two weight class champion in UFC history. This isn’t going to be an easy one for him, though, as Blachowicz has some unreal power that can end the fight at any moment. This should be one heck of a main event.
