UFC 246 Fighter Flashback: Donald Cerrone and his best Bud

Just like Cerrone is willing to take on anyone, anytime, anywhere, he’s also willing to drink beer at any time.

Donald Cerrone and Conor McGregor will kick off the 2020 UFC pay-per-view schedule Jan. 18 when they headline UFC 246 in Las Vegas. The fight serves as McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the octagon after 14 months, while Cerrone receives the biggest opportunity of his nearly 14-year career. As part of an occasional series ahead of the matchup, let’s flash back to a memorable Q&A where Cerrone downed a few Budweisers while answering some fan questions.

It’s no secret that [autotag]Donald Cerrone[/autotag] loves his beer.

Budweiser, the longtime sponsor of Cerrone, was the official beer of the UFC for 10 years before the promotion made the switch to Modelo in 2018. And, just like Cerrone’s willingness to take on anyone, anytime, anywhere, he’s also willing to chug an ice-cold Bud at any time.

During the UFC 185 fan Q&A in 2015, guest fighter Cerrone took to the stage and answered some fan questions while downing a few cups of beer, which were brought to him on stage.

“Cowboy without beer would be a son of a (expletive), wouldn’t it?” Cerrone said with a big smile on his face, in response to one of the questions.

Budweiser has made specially-branded cans for Cerrone ahead of his main event fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 246, labelling Cerrone as the “The Great American.” The other side of the can features a list of Cerrone’s all-time UFC records. The limited-edition cans will be available for sale in Las Vegas during fight week.

McGregor, of course, won’t worry about that. He has his Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey, after all…

UFC 246 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card streams on pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN and ESPN+/UFC Fight Pass.
