UCLA-Penn State moved from Pauley Pavilion to Long Beach due to wildfires

UCLA will play Penn State in women’s basketball this Wednesday, but it won’t be in Pauley Pavilion. It will be in Long Beach instead.

After the UCLA women’s basketball game on Sunday against Northwestern was postponed due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area, Wednesday’s game against Penn State will go on, just not at Pauley Pavilion.

The UCLA women’s basketball program announced on Sunday that the Big Ten matchup will be played at The Walter Pyramid at Long Beach State. It will give Bruin fans in Long Beach a special chance to see history, as UCLA goes for its best start in program history with a chance at 17-0.

It will be the Bruins’ second time playing at The Walter Pyramid this season. UCLA beat Long Beach 101-52 in the building last month. If you had already purchased tickets for Wednesday’s game at Pauley Pavilion, your tickets will be given “account credit equal to the value spent.” Tickets for the game in Long Beach have yet to go on sale as of Monday afternoon.

UCLA is one of three Big Ten schools which are still unbeaten in conference play, alongside Ohio State and USC. The Trojans defeated Penn State 95-73 on Sunday. Penn State is winless in the Big Ten at 0-6 but is 9-8 overall.

The Bruins will have an eight-day layoff between games, but UCLA should be able to knock the rust off against one of the bottom-feeders of Big Ten women’s basketball.

Sunday’s game against Northwestern has yet to be rescheduled for the Bruins, with undergraduate and graduate courses being moved to remote instruction until Friday, January 17.
