The transfer portal has been relatively quiet for the Bruins this off-season. But one of their graduate players has found a new home.
Tight end Grant Norberg, who only appeared in three games for the Bruins on specials teams in 2023, is heading north to play for the San Jose State University Spartans.
The 6’ 7” tight end did not record a single catch for the Bruins in his career, starting in 2020. Though only a reserve, Norberg’s size is enticing as a blocker and a potential big-bodied red-zone target.
Some may look at Norberg’s transfer as an indication that UCLA is not an exciting place to play, but given Norberg’s lack of production, his departure seems to be more of a personal decision.

Playing at a smaller school for a program in the Mountain West, Norberg could find greener pastures and see more time on the field for the Spartans in 2024 if things go well.
