UCLA Bruins signal caller Ethan Garbers was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arms award list. The 22-year-old was the offensive MVP of the 2023 LA Bowl after beating Boise State last season.
He started his career at Washington and did not take a single snap in 2020. He then came to UCLA. He made his first start in Week 10 of the 2021 season for the Bruins.
Head coach DeShaun Foster spoke to the media Saturday following practice about Garbers and his performances so far in the preseason:
“He’s been trending up since the bowl game. … Coming into training camp he did the exact same thing and added more plays, more new guys and still was able to lead and make strides to pull himself away from the rest of the pack. Ethan is doing a great job and if we keep him healthy there may be some awards for him at the end of the season.”
