UCLA, New Mexico nearing deal for neutral court game in Las Vegas

UCLA vs. New Mexico…in Vegas.

The UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team is a frequent selection in the way-too-early top 25 rankings for next season. After an impressive haul in the transfer portal, Mick Cronin’s team has even been pegged as a favorite in the Big Ten Conference.

UCLA’s non-conference schedule might be getting an added wrinkle, with UCLA and New Mexico finalizing an agreement to play a November game in Las Vegas, per Jon Rothstein.

UCLA and New Mexico are finalizing an agreement to meet in a neutral site game on Nov. 8th in Las Vegas, multiple sources told College Hoops Today.

An official venue is TBD.

There is also no timetable on an official announcement.

New Mexico won the Mountain West Conference tournament this past season and made the NCAA Tournament, so this is a quality non-conference game for the Bruins and will be a tough test early in the season, assuming this ends up getting done.

This news comes right after the tragic passing of Drew Gordon, who played his college basketball at both UCLA and New Mexico.
