The UCLA Bruins have a long way to go and it has only been a few weeks. The Week 1 result over Hawaii was not encouraging.
Moreover, a Week 2 bye was odd timing. In Week 3, they begin Big Ten play with Indiana before a stretch that includes LSU, Oregon, and Penn State.
Miles Dwyer of Ducks Wire updated his Big Ten power rankings after Week 2, and UCLA was at the bottom of the conference.
Game Result: Bye
Previous Ranking: 17th
AP Poll: N/A
What’s Next?: Indiana
Analysis: UCLA didn’t play this week, but after Michigan State’s win over Maryland and a suspect showing in Week 1, the Bruins are falling to the bottom spot in the Big Ten. I think it’s unlikely UCLA takes down Indiana next week, but it will have home-field advantage. The week after, it’ll have a near-impossible task: It takes on LSU in Baton Rouge.
If UCLA does not get the win in Week 3, they might not get another victory until October.
