UCLA Bruins women’s basketball player Gabriela Jaquez is now putting on a different uniform in Westwood. She is joining the softball roster as they prepare for the postseason.
Kelly Inouye-Perez, the head coach for the UCLA softball team, released a statement on the move, per Justin McLeod.
“We are excited to welcome Gabriela Jaquez into the Bruin Softball Family! Gabriela is a fierce competitor and will add to the depth and versatility of our running game this postseason. As a standout student-athlete on the UCLA women’s basketball team, Gabriela recognizes and upholds our strong values.”
Gabriela played high school softball in Camarillo and was teammates with current Bruins player Rylee Pinedo, so it isn’t all that surprising to see her transition to the softball field.
UCLA will begin their Women’s College World Series run on Friday in Los Angeles, and it will be interesting to see Gabriela put on the uniform once again.
