UCLA freshman Peyton Watson announced on Tuesday that he will hire an agent and declare for the 2022 NBA draft, forgoing his remaining collegiate eligibility.
Watson, a former consensus five-star prospect and McDonald’s All-American, averaged 3.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in 32 appearances with the Bruins. He produced his best game of the season on Nov. 22 with 19 points and four rebounds.
The 6-foot-8 guard is considered to be a potential second-round pick given his potential. He is viewed as a bit of a raw prospect with plenty of room to grow and develop after just one season in college.

Watson will have the opportunity to participate in private workouts with teams to improve his draft stock over the next two months. He could also be a candidate to earn an invitation to take part in the draft combine or NBA G League Elite Camp next month.
The NBA draft will take place on June 23.
