Despite a 16-13 win in the opening week of College Football, the UCLA Bruins dropped 28 spots in the CBS Sports Power Rankings. The Bruins, who started the season at 62 fell to 80th. Florida State and Florida were the only teams that fell more in the rankings. The Seminoles dropped from 13th to 48th. The Gators went from 38 to 71st. Virginia Tech also dropped 28 spots. The biggest jump was Vanderbilt, who went from 91st to 45tt.
The Bruins settled in just one spot ahead of former Pac-12 rival Stanford, and just behind the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
UCLA will take this weekend off. DeShaun Foster will get his team ready for the Big Ten season opener on September 14th. That game is the first of the season at the Rose Bowl. The Indiana Hoosiers come to town. Indiana checked in just ahead of the Bruins at 74. That is up 9 spots from preseason 93.
The top five in the rankings are the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame made the biggest jump, up three spots. Hawaii, who is now 1-1 on the season fell from 104th to 107th.
In the Big Ten, Penn State is 6th, Oregon 7th, Michigan 11th, USC 12th and Nebraska 29th.
