UCLA Bruins women’s soccer blank Long Beach State in season opener

It was a great start for the UCLA Women’s Soccer team. They beat Long Beach State 3-0 on Thursday in the opener.

The UCLA Bruins women’s soccer team got off to a great start for the 2024 season. The Bruins got two goals from Emma Egizii and one from Bridgette Marin-Valencia and they blanked Long Beach State 3-0.

Goaltender Ryan Campbell recorded a shut-out in the win. The Bruins dominated the game from start to finish, as they had 18 shots on goal, while the opponents had just 3.

The win came in front of over 1,600 fans at George Allen Field in Long Beach California.  The Bruins are now back home for their first match at Willis Annenberg Stadium on Sunday. They will take on UC Riverside.

The Bruins are coming off a 16-2-1 season in 2023. They were 10-0-1 in conference play. They were eliminated in the NCAA Tournament in the first round by UC Irvine.  The Bruins were national champions in 2022, which was their second title in program history. UCLA has been in the NCAA Tournament every season since 2016.
