Tyson Fury’s generosity moves grateful cutman Jorge Capetillo

Tyson Fury helped cut man Jorge Capetillo financially when he realized Capetillo was having difficulties during the coronavirus pandemic.

Cutman Jorge Capetillo was there when he was needed by Tyson Fury, whose nasty cuts against Otto Wallin could’ve cost him their fight last September. And now Fury is there for Capetillo.

Capetillo told the story to Sky Sports.

“”He is still very grateful,” Capetillo said. “When he knew we were locked down because of COVID-19 and my gym was closed, he texted me and said: ‘Is there anything I can do to help?’

“He is still taking care of me. He sent me money. I was supposed to be with Jessie Vargas in New York on March 14 but the fight was canceled and I came home with empty pockets. I was scared, I didn’t know what to do.

“He knew Jessie’s fight was canceled. He asked about my family and what he could do. He said: ‘I’ll sort out some money for your family so you can be good’. Such generosity for me and my family. He is a great man, so humble. He had the time to ask how I was doing with my family during this crisis.”

Fury suffered the cut over his right eye as a result of a punch in Round 3 and, with Capetillo’s help, fought through it to earn a unanimous-decision victory.

“I got caught early on with the inside of the glove on the eyelid, which cut the eye and it changed the fight completely,” Fury said immediately after the fight. “For the majority of the fight, I couldn’t see out of the eye and then with the southpaw-orthodox clash, a head butt opened up a second cut.”

The victory set up his take down of Deontay Wilder in February.
