Tyson Fury believes Deontay Wilder will knock out Robert Helenius

Tyson Fury believes Deontay Wilder will knock out Robert Helenius on Saturday in Brooklyn.

If anyone understands the punching power of Deontay Wilder, it’s Tyson Fury.

The heavyweight titleholder went down four times in three fights with Wilder, a draw and two knockout victories for the Englishman. And he believes Wilder will do the same thing to Robert Helenius on Saturday in Brooklyn.

Only the Finn, he said, won’t get up.

“I just think that Wilder is a monster puncher and as soon as he lands on Helenius, he’s out,” Fury said in a iD Boxing video on YouTube. “I’ve seen Gerald Washington knock Helenius out, and Wilder knocked [Washington] out, so. …

“[Helenius] didn’t do much good with Dillian Whyte. Helenius couldn’t really hurt him. And Wilder punches like five times harder than Whyte. So, yeah, KO for sure.”

Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs) rebounded from a knockout loss to Gerald Washington in 2019 to win his next three fights, including stoppages of Adam Kownacki in his last two fights to set up the big opportunity he has on pay-per-view Saturday.

His other losses came against Johann Duhaupas (KO 6) in 2016 and Dillian Whyte (UD) the following year, while Helenius was struggling with a nagging shoulder injury.

Wilder has knocked out every man he has fought, except Fury. He outpointed Bermane Stiverne to win the WBC title in 2015 but stopped him in one round in their 2017 rematch.
