Tyson Fury dominated Deontay Wilder on Saturday night to become the WBC and lineal heavyweight champion of the world, but before the referee stepped in to stop the fight in the seventh round, the “Gypsy King” stunned the crowd and fans watching at home by appearing to taste Wilder’s blood mid-round.
Fury blooded Wilder early in the fight, damaging Wilder’s left ear as he knocked down the Bronze Bomber several times throughout the fight. Wilder often looked off-balance and off his game, while Fury was magnificent. While most analysts figured that Fury would have to win by decision if he won at all, Fury boasted that he would knock Wilder out – and he was clearly the better fighter.
In the seventh, with blood covering Wilder’s neck and back, Fury stuck his tongue out while in a clinch and may have tasted Wilder’s blood.
