Tyrin Lawrence could be a ‘perfect fit’ for Auburn

It appears that Auburn made quite the impression on Vanderbilt’s leading scorer during his visit this weekend.

As Auburn begins preparing for the 2023-24 season, head coach Bruce Pearl is looking for a go-to shooter to complete his roster.

He sees that in former Vanderbilt guard Tyrin Lawrence.

Lawrence, Vanderbilt’s leading scorer during the 2022-23 season, was on campus this weekend to visit with Pearl and came away impressed with what he learned while he was on the Plains.

Pearl laid out a plan for how he would use Lawrence on his team during his visit. Pearl’s pitch included using him as a main component of Auburn’s scoring.

“I think I would fit perfectly,” Lawrence said in an interview with Jason Caldwell of Auburn Undercover. “Just doing stuff on and off the ball, whether it’s coming off ball screens or cutting backdoor. I think I could do a lot of that. I think I would be a perfect fit.”

As a junior during the 2022-23 season, Lawrence led the Commodores in scoring by averaging 13.1 points per game. He turned in 24 games of double-figures and scored 20 or more points in six games. During Vanderbilt’s NIT run, Lawrence averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game.

Lawrence also mentions to Caldwell that he does not have a timetable for announcing his commitment.
