Tyreek Hill explains mindset to come back after dealing with cramps

The wideout left in the third quarter, but he returned.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had one of the best games of his career on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

The former Kansas City Chief recorded 11 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns to help his team complete an incredible comeback and improve to 2-0 on the season.

However, that almost didn’t happen. Hill left the contest in the third quarter while dealing with cramps. Before long, he returned to action and didn’t appear to miss a beat.

After the game, Hill was asked what made him come back to the field, and he shared his thought process.

“That’s just my mindset,” Hill said. “I just feel like everything I’ve been through in my life. … You know, like my grandparents raised me, always raised me to not be a quitter. And that’s always been my message, you know, to this team, to my kids. No matter what you do, you make sure you go out fighting. Make sure you go out swinging.

“Because, I know at the end of the day, I’ve got a group of guys behind me who’s doing the same thing. And that’s always going to be my mindset. I don’t care if the score is 42-0 going into the second half, I’m still going to be out there fighting because that’s what this team paid me to come in and do. You know, lead by example. Because if I quit, the whole team quits, so that’s my mindset.”

Hill has been the ultimate teammate since arriving in Miami. He’s talking up his teammates, working extremely hard in practice and showing up on game days. As a six-time Pro Bowler that’s making $30 million a year, he doesn’t have to have that mindset, but he’s setting an example for his teammates that shows the type of dedication and commitment needed to be a winning team.
