Tyler Herro to miss Heat game vs. Zion Williamson, Pelicans

Herro has not played since suffering an ankle injury on Feb. 3 against the 76ers.

Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro will not play on Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans due to a lingering ankle injury, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

Herro has missed the past 13 games for the Heat and did not travel with the team to New Orleans. He has not played since initially suffering the injury on Feb. 3 against the Philadelphia 76ers. Herro will also miss Sunday’s game against the Washington Wizards.

The Heat are hopeful Herro can return to action within the next week and the rookie has progressed to participating in light workouts on the court. Herro was seen on Wednesday putting up shots prior to the Heat hosting the Orlando Magic.

Herro is averaging 13.1 points, four rebounds and two assists in 46 games played this season. The Heat have gone 6-7 without Herro and have won four straight games after defeating the Magic on Wednesday.

The Heat and Pelicans tipoff at 8 p.m. ET on Friday.
