Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tyler Boyd and Miami Dolphins corner Xavien Howard were ejected from Sunday’s Week 13 game.
Boyd and Howard got into it on the sidelines and had a little shoving match, which started an extremely odd set of events from the NFL’s officials.
Said officials decided both players committed personal fouls and needed to be ejected, but only the Bengals ended up penalized from the altercation.
That knocked them out of field goal range, causing a miss, as well as their No. 1 wideout who had previously scored the longest Bengals touchdown since 2017 earlier in the game.
The ejections and how only Cincinnati ended up punished on the play — never mind that players were ejected for soft shoves in the first place — earned plenty of criticism:
So they ejected two players for throwing punches but only gave one of them a personal foul. Interesting.

That Tyler Boyd ejection was egregious. My kids do worse to each other literally every day.

So why in the heck would Xavien Howard and Tyler Boyd both get ejected and the Bengals end up with the only penalty?! Someone enlighten me.

Tyler Boyd and Xavien Howard have both been tossed for throwing punches. The #Bengals have been penalized 15 yards for the punch but there isn't anything on Miami? pic.twitter.com/09M3Yrsqa0

Tossing Tyler Boyd and Xavien Howard for that?? Terrible.
