Two new Raiders additions named team captains

With the first practice of the 2020 season a day away, the Raiders named their team captains. According to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez, they are as follows:

Offense: QB Derek Carr, C Rodney Hudson
Defense: DT Maliek Collins, LB Nick Kwiatkoski
Special teams: S Erik Harris, LB Kyle Wilber

Carr and Hudson as team captains is a no-brainer. The two captains on the defense, however, weren’t even on the team a few months ago.

Both Maliek Collins and Nick Kwiatkoski were added as free agents this offseason. Collins comes over from Dallas and Kwiatkoski from Chicago.

That’s nothing, though. As of a couple of days ago, Kyle Wilber wasn’t even on the team. The Raiders had cut him in the trim to 53 players and brought him back a day later after placing Marcus Mariota on the injured reserve lit.

The same day the Raiders announced they had brought Wilber back, they named him team captain. Wilber enters his third season as a special teams captain for the team.
