KNOXVILLE — A pair of University of Tennessee baseball players were named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-America team.

Junior outfielder Alerick Soularie and redshirt junior Redmond Walsh were selected to the team. They were named to the NCBWA Second Team.

Soularie, a transfer from San Jacinto College, took the Southeastern Conference by storm as a sophomore in 2019 and was a key contributor for the Volunteers, who went 40-21 last season and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.

He hit .357, clubbed 11 home runs and drove in 46 runs for the Diamond Vols, who went 14-16 in the SEC. He also led the Big Orange in runs (52), slugging percentage (.602) and on-base percentage (.466).

Soularie was second on the team in hits (70), home runs, runs batted in and total bases (118).

Walsh, a left-handed relief pitcher, had nine saves, while posting a 1.23 earned run average. He picked up two wins out of the bullpen and had 48 strikeouts and held opponents to a .232 batting average.
