Two Clemson stars earn invites to the East-West Shrine Bowl

Mafah and Mickens are going to an All-Star game.

Two Clemson standouts, running back Phil Mafah and safety R.J. Mickens, are set to showcase their talents on a national stage at the East-West Shrine Bowl next month. The annual all-star game, celebrating its 100th year, will take place on January 30, 2025, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will air in primetime on NFL Network.

Mafah capped off his Clemson career with a stellar senior season, earning third-team All-ACC honors. Despite battling a preseason shoulder injury, he rushed for 1,115 yards and eight touchdowns, marking the 24th 1,000-yard rushing season in school history. His 2,887 career rushing yards rank ninth in Clemson history, while his 28 rushing touchdowns tie him for 10th all-time.

On defense, Mickens recorded a career-best 85 tackles, including six for loss, along with two interceptions and seven pass breakups in 2024. Over his 60-game career, he tallied 229 tackles, seven interceptions, and 15 pass breakups.

Both players will look to impress NFL scouts in Arlington as they take the next step toward their professional careers.
