Twitter shreds officials, Titans’ WRs during Week 9 loss to Chiefs

The only people who had a worse night than the Titans’ WRs were the officials.

The Tennessee Titans had several opportunities to put the Kansas City Chiefs away in Week 9 but failed to do so, which paved the way for Patrick Mahomes and Co. to win the game in overtime, 20-17.

Things got off to a bad start for the Titans, with the Chiefs scoring on their first two drives to take an early 9-0 lead. Tennessee’s defense would put the clamps on KC after that, though, and the offense went on to score 17 unanswered points to take a 17-9 lead.

Thanks to the defense, that lead held up until late in the fourth quarter when Mahomes went off on a 13-play, 93-yard scoring drive that saw him put his team on his back and force overtime, with an assist from the officials, who botched multiple calls during the two-point tries.

Tennessee’s offense, which went cold in the second half and provided zero support for the defense, was unable to respond after the Chiefs went ahead 20-17 in the extra frame, sealing the win for Kansas City.

After the game, Twitter had a lot to say about the loss overall, as well as the poor officiating and wide receiver play. Here’s a look at the reactions from Sunday night.
