The Washington Football Team found its left tackle of the future in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft in Samuel Cosmi of Texas.
Cosmi will immediately come to Washington and compete for a starting job with veteran Cornelius Lucas and Geron Christian. Lucas, signed last offseason, was solid in 2020 when he took over at left tackle. However, he was originally signed to be WFT’s swing tackle.
We analyzed Cosmi’s addition to Washington after his selection. He has many positive traits and is extremely impressive in the running game. He is far from a finished product but is an exciting prospect for offensive line coach John Matsko.
You know what we think; let’s see what Twitter thought of Cosmi to Washington.
Samuel Cosmi was a three-year starter at Texas, allowed 8 pressures in 368 snaps last year, and he's a nasty finisher in the run game. pic.twitter.com/F1bsZJZ0EN

Echoing what we said earlier, Cosmi will help Washington’s rushing attack in 2021.
This receiving TD from new WFT OL Samuel Cosmi at Texas is wildly impressive.
This was not a 2-yard score, he got the ball and showed some vision and that sneaky speed. pic.twitter.com/RSoFCeGYQd

Check out the athleticism from the big guy.
#WFT source to me on why they love Texas OT Samuel Cosmi via text: "Good feet and…strong hands and hand placement. Has very good play strength. Terrific work ethic. Has position flex, can play. guard as well."

Sounds familiar with every Ron Rivera selection.
So about a game and a half into Samuel Cosmi. This is a consistent theme. Loves to use his chop move to prevent defenders leaning on him. Excellent technique to have in the bank pic.twitter.com/CS9ykstXQW

Impressive in pass protection here.
Samuel Cosmi (@SamCosmi) projects as a starting LT who wins with his athleticism, length, and instincts, while his inconsistent hand usage and anchor ability may cause him to struggle against top level competition pic.twitter.com/gqD5MkI5Lb

A former NFL general manager has spoken.
Samuel Cosmi was drafted with pick 51 of round 2 in the 2021 draft class. He scored a 9.99 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 2 out of 1143 OT from 1987 to 2021. https://t.co/UdaHnm9N0s #RAS #WFT pic.twitter.com/uri2cGjMP6
