The Chicago Bears defeated the Washington Commanders, 40-20, which marked their first win in 347 days. The victory also came on the same day that legendary Bears linebacker Dick Butkus passed away at the age of 80.
The Bears won in dominant fashion, scoring a season-high 40 points and holding Washington to 20 points, the fewest points Chciago has allowed since their previous victory against the New England Patriots on Oct. 24, 2022.
Quarterback Justin Fields and wide receiver DJ Moore had dominant performances, providing us a glimpse at the dynamic duo they’re developing into. Moore had eight catches for 230 yards, second most in franchise history, and three touchdowns. Fields completed 15-of-29 passes for 282 yards with four touchdowns and zero interceptions.
As you can imagine, Bears fans — and players — are feeling elated after the team’s first win in nearly a full calendar year. It certainly helped alleviate the pressure on Matt Eberflus, who is now 4-18 as head coach.
