Serena Williams’ legendary tennis career will come to an end after the upcoming U.S Open, she announced in a first-person essay in the September issue of Vogue, which was revealed Tuesday morning on social media.
Williams is the GOAT, having on 23 career Grand Slam single titles, including seven at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon. She’ll be looking to win her seventh U.S. Open, which starts at the end of this month.
She said in Vogue:
“Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution. I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me. A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm. Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family.”
Tennis players and fans had reactions.
