There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it: This was the worst loss of the Sean McVay era. The Rams could do very little right against the winless Jets on Sunday afternoon, getting embarrassed at home by suffering a 23-20 defeat.
The league’s No. 1-ranked defense allowed 23 points to the NFL’s worst offense, while the Rams’ own offense mustered just 303 total yards against a Jets defense that features very few recognizable names.
Yet, as is often said in the NFL, anything can happen no matter the circumstances.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the game, with tweets from fans and media members sharing their thoughts on the shocking events that transpired at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Fire McVay
Get rid of Goff
Listen to offers for Aaron DonaldRams need to tear it down and rebuild. No excuse to lose to the Jets

While we’re all pissing on Sean McVay tonight, let’s remember that before he took over, we were the Jets in this scenario.. We were the team better teams were pissed about losing to.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! #RamsHouse Congratulations #TakeFlight. #NFCWestChampionship next week in the #EmeraldCity L.A. @RamsNFL vs. Seattle @Seahawks

At times, this team had been great this season.
Just as many times, they have looked like the Jeff Fisher era Rams, doing everything in their power to lose games.

FINAL: Jets 23, Rams 20
The Rams simply didn't show up today to play the 0-13 Jets. They trailed 20-3 in the second half and only had a chance to win late because the Jets are, well, the Jets. Worst performance of the year for the Rams.

I don’t even know what to say.

This is what I get for even going through scenarios for Rams to get to 1 seed a few weeks ago. When you have one of these games, although a huge outlier, you don’t get the benefit of the doubt heading into playoffs. I hope they all throw up on each other in the locker room.

You just lost to the 0-13 Jets… And oh yeah, you still have not clinched a playoff spot.
— SeattleRams (@seattlerams_nfl) December 21, 2020
Easily the most embarrassing loss of the McVay era. The Rams lose to the Jets, 23-20. #NYJvsLA #RamsHouse

Rams getting victory formationed right on top of their banana bunch midfield
— Beto (@_BMule) December 21, 2020
The Rams deserve every drop of clowning and questioning they're about to get. Chance to clinch a playoff spot…… and they lost to the New York Jets?
Sheesh.

That’s a wrap. Congrats, you played yourself @RamsNFL
— HoldenCantor (@HoldenCantor) December 20, 2020
So much for people taking the Rams seriously.
