Twitter reacts to NBA reporter Shams Charania tipping NFL draft picks

Sports fans reacted to NBA reporter Shams Charania tweeting out NFL draft picks before they happened.

With only one NBA playoff game on the schedule, Thursday was a bit quiet around the league because several first-round series wrapped up this week.

However, Shams Charania managed to stay busy.

Charania, one of the top NBA reporters with The Athletic and Stadium, took to Twitter to reveal the first three selections of the 2023 NFL draft. He correctly tweeted that the Carolina Panthers would select Alabama quarterback Bryce Young with the first pick and the Houston Texans would nab quarterback CJ Stroud from Ohio State second.

He also had Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. going third.

Charania scooped some of the best NFL reporters well before the picks were announced by Commissioner Roger Goodell. Of course, Charania has tremendous experience tipping picks as the journalist also breaks the draft picks in the NBA.

The art isn’t necessarily received well by everyone as some prefer to watch the draft results in real time. In fact, ESPN and the NFL Network have prohibited their reporters from tipping the picks in the past, likely in an effort to keep fans tuned into their draft coverage.

The display by Charania, though, appeared to provide some comedy relief to fans on Twitter. He certainly flexed on everyone a bit by stepping outside of the world of basketball to break some news in the NFL, and it provided some hilarious conversation on social media.
