Michigan hockey had its second series of the season with rival Michigan State, and after going 1-1 the first time around, it was another chance from interim coach Brandon Naurato’s team to assert itself among the best in the Big Ten.
On Friday, the Wolverines beat the Spartans 4-2 in East Lansing before the series shifted to Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit. Michigan had a 3-2 lead in the third, but MSU tied it up to force overtime.
But, as overtime was about to expire, New Jersey Devils draft pick Luke Hughes made an amazing play, scoring as time expired to seal the game for the maize and blue.
