The Chicago Bears signed veteran Andy Dalton to a one-year, $10 million deal in free agency, but quarterback remains a hot topic surrounding the team.
The rumors involving Russell Wilson have been the loudest, and now there’s another quarterback that is primed for the trade market. After the Carolina Panthers traded for Sam Darnold, that leaves Teddy Bridgewater ripe for the taking. And, for a lot of people, the easiest assumption was the Bears as a landing spot.
Naturally, a popular talking point was the possibility of Chicago trading for Bridgewater, which had fans divided. Some believe Bridgewater would be an instant upgrade over Dalton or Nick Foles. Others believe Bridgewater is a cautionary tale, especially for someone that reportedly turned down an offer with the Bears last offseason because he didn’t want to compete with Mitchell Trubisky.
