FS1’s Colin Cowherd made waves with his recent draft day trade proposal involving the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings.
The trade idea has the Vikings moving up to No. 3 overall by trading the No. 11 pick, a 2025 first-rounder and All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson to the Patriots.
“What does New England desperately need? A playmaker,” Cowherd said, when appearing on “The Herd”, as transcribed by NBC Sports Boston. “I’ll give you next year’s (first-round pick) and Justin Jefferson to go from 11 to 3, because they’ve already got Jordan Addison, they’ve got the tight end (T.J. Hockenson) they like. They’ve got skill players. Next year’s one and Justin Jefferson to move up to the number three spot to get your quarterback.”
It would be a blockbuster move that would give the Patriots the best receiver in football, along with another first-round draft pick to continue their rebuild in 2025. Meanwhile, the Vikings would position themselves to take one of the top-three quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL draft—Caleb Williams, Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels.
However, not everyone sees the proposal as a win-win.
Some see more value in Jefferson than the No. 3 pick in the draft, which creates a situation where the Vikings could potentially get fleeced in the trade. Regardless of opinion, the proposal has created a serious debate ahead of the draft.
Here’s what people were saying on Twitter on the possibility of such a trade becoming a reality:
