TV broadcast crew announced for No. 1 Georgia vs. Kentucky

Sean McDonough (play by play) and Greg McElroy (analyst) will have once again be on the call for Kentucky this week when the Wildcats welcome No. 1 Georgia to Lexington at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

For the second straight week, Kentucky will be featured in a major college football broadcast on ABC.

On Monday, ESPN announced its Week 3 college football commentator pairings. ABC/ESPN is staying in Lexington for another week, as is the broadcast crew of Sean McDonough (play-by-play), Greg McElroy (analyst) and Molly McGrath (sideline reporter).

The crew called Kentucky’s 31-6 loss to South Carolina last Saturday and will be at Kroger Field again Saturday night when the Wildcats host No. 1 Georgia at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on ABC.

Georgia defeated Tennessee Tech from the FCS ranks a week ago in their home opener at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs entered the year as preseason No. 1 in both the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll. They defeated Clemson, 34-3, in their season opener on Aug. 31.

Kentucky will be seeking its first win against Georgia since 2009. That year, the Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs in Athens, 34-27, behind a 28-point second-half comeback and erased a 20-6 halftime deficit. Kentucky quarterback Morgan Newton threw for three touchdowns and Randall Cobb rushed for two more that night.

For Kentucky’s last win against Georgia in Lexington, you’d have to go back to 2006 when Rich Brooks’ team defeated the Bulldogs, 24-20. That snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Dawgs at the time. Fans rushed the field and (eventually) torn town the goalpost.

The Bulldogs are currently on a 14-game winning streak against the Wildcats, including last year’s 51-13 romp at Sanford Stadium. Georgia leads the all-time series against Kentucky, 63-12-2.

AROUND THE ‘TUBE’

ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ and No. 1 broadcast crew of Chris Fowler (play-by-play), Kirk Herbstreit (analyst) and Holly Rowe (sideline reporter) will be in Columbia, S.C., this week for No. 17 LSU vs. South Carolina at noon ET. The game can be seen on ABC.

Other SEC games of note are Texas A&M vs. Florida in Gainesville. The Aggies-Gators clash is ABC’s weekly 3:30 ET kickoff.

Opposite Georgia-Kentucky in prime time are New Mexico vs. Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium (7:30 ET, ESPN2) and Kent State vs. No. 9 Tennessee (7:45, SEC Network) at Neyland Stadium. No. 3 Texas hosts UTSA in Austin at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
