Turmoil at Auburn could be good news for Notre Dame keeping Deuce Knight

Not an idea showing with Knight on-campus

As we all know, Notre Dame football’s 2025 quarterback commit [autotag]Deuce Knight[/autotag] has been flirting with other schools as the early signing period rapidly approaches.

One of those schools is Auburn, and the 6-foot, 5-inch, 206-pound left-hander was there this past Saturday. The nation’s No. 29 overall prospect on the 247Sports composite saw the Tigers struggle once again, especially at the quarterback position.

A midgame change from Hank Brown to Peyton Thorne didn’t yield great results. The pair combined to throw four interceptions compared with just two touchdown passes. The Tigers fell at home to Arkansas, 24-14, and there were clearly some issues inside the quarterback room.

Thorne spoke with the media following the game, noting that Brown, who threw three of the picks, needs to focus more during the week of preparation.

This can only be seen as good news for Notre Dame and Knight. The dysfunction inside Auburn’s quarterback room should give him second thoughts of flipping to the program.

While many still believe a flip is inevitable, the Irish are holding onto the fact they’re still a much better program fit for Knight than any other school sans drama.
