Tua Tagovailoa’s surgeon says QB isn’t injury prone

Tua Tagovailoa’s injury is a storyline to consider for the Bengals.

Though observers might want to paint it as whether Joe Burrow will play for the Cincinnati Bengals, the biggest question surrounding the 2020 NFL draft is actually Tua Tagovailoa’s injury.

Tagovailoa would likely be in the conversation for the No. 1 pick were it not for his injury history. That includes two ankle issues that required “tightrope” procedures and the hip injury that ruined last season.

But Tagovailoa’s surgeon, Norman Waldrop, is fighting back against the idea the Alabama passer is injury prone.

“I understand where it comes from,” Waldrop said, according to the Miami Herald’s Adam Beasley. “But he’s had some pretty significant injuries that don’t have anything more to do with him than the particular nature of the plays that occurred. While I certainly get everyone’s worries from the medical side, I have zero concerns because of his willingness to work. He’s passed every test with bells and whistles.”

The vast majority of Bengals fans seem to love the idea of Burrow, but the Bengals will undoubtedly dive into this very issue with Tagovailoa himself at the upcoming combine.

For now, the Burrow vs. Tagovailoa debate rages onward. For those Bengals fans who prefer Burrow, Tagovailoa’s agent has made it pretty clear he’d like his client to steer clear of the Bengals anyway.
