Tua Tagovailoa says he’d ideally like to be a Cowboy

Tua Tagovailoa says he’d love to play in Dallas.

Former Alabama superstar Tua Tagovailoa may be the biggest wild card in the 2020 NFL Draft, as he started his final year in college as a favorite to go No. 1 overall but was knocked out of action with a serious hip injury. Tagovailoa had surgery in November and is expected to make a full recovery, but his medical evaluations at the upcoming NFL combine could either cement his status as a top-3 pick, or send him tumbling down the draft order.

Several teams inside the top 10 in the draft order are either expected to draft a QB or could at least consider it, from the Lions at No. 3, to the Dolphins at No. 5, to the Chargers at No. 6.

In an interview with Steve Wyche, Tagovailoa revealed which team he’d like to play for the most – and it isn’t an organization that has any need for a new franchise quarterback.

Via NFL.com:

Tagovailoa: “If you’re saying to me if I could choose what team I want to play on, as far as my favorite team growing up, then I’d probably tell you the Cowboys. But I mean they’re so far down [in the draft].”

Wyche: “Bump Dak Prescott..”

Tagovailoa: “Nah, nah I’m not trying to bump him. I’ll learn under him.”

Tagovailoa says he simply wants to get back to playing football again, but would be comfortable spending his rookie year as an understudy – which he may be forced to do depending on his health.

“I wouldn’t mind learning under whatever guy that’s the starter, give me a whole year to rest up and then go back out and compete. But I just want to go back out and play.”
