Netflix recently released a docu-series titled ‘Quarterback,’ which followed three NFL quarterbacks over the course of the 2022 season. Cameras followed Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings and Marcus Mariota of the Atlanta Falcons. There’s no word yet on who will be featured in Season 2, but it won’t be Tua Tagovailoa.
While meeting with members of the media at the start of Miami Dolphins training camp, the fourth-year quarterback out of Alabama was asked about the possibility of being on the show.
He said that he was approached about it, but does not feel comfortable putting his personal life on full display. Even during his time in Tuscaloosa, Tua was not one to spend much time in front of cameras or be overly active on social media. He’s driven to perform at a high level as a quarterback, not earn fame and notoriety.
“There have been talks about going on it. But I feel like right now, it just isn’t the right time,” he said, quoted by the Miami Herald’s Daniel Oyefusi. “But even too, because I’m a very personal guy. I felt like the series was a lot more about their personal lives than it was about what they did on the football field. For me, that’s not something I like to do, especially show my kid on national television, or people seeing what I do.”
The show will go on, but with other quarterbacks being the center of attention. The only show Tua seems worried about is the one he and his Dolphins teammates will put on in the 2023 NFL season.
Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Tua Tagovailoa and other former Alabama players as the 2023 offseason winds down.
