Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa posts video of himself working out, which only helps the Detroit Lions chances to trade the No. 3 pick

Tuesday, March 24th was going to be a huge day for Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He was scheduled to throw for all 32 NFL teams and be available for contact during the Crimson Tide pro day. It would have been the first hands-on opportunity for many teams to check out how Tagovailoa is progressing from his major hip surgery last fall.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic canceled the pro day, and Tagovailoa cannot travel to team facilities to meet with coaches or, more importantly, team doctors. That’s still an issue, but Tagovailoa tried to ease those concerns by posting a quick video clip of himself working out.

From his Instagram,

It’s just a quick dropback and throw, but it shows some regained range of motion and strength in the surgically repaired hip and ankles. For NFL teams looking for a premium quarterback option in the draft, it’s a hopeful blossom. For a team like the Lions with a premium pick but no need for a quarterback, it’s helpful fertilizer to help germinate the trade market at No. 3 overall.
