Tua Tagovailoa named Polynesian Offensive Pro Football Player of the Year

49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga won the Polynesian DPOY.

On Thursday, the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced the 2022 winners for the Polynesian pro football players of the year, and Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was the offensive recipient.

Tagovailoa completed 64.8% of his passes for career-highs in both passing yards (3,548) and touchdowns (25). He also led the league in passer rating (105.5).

The defensive winner of the honor was San Francisco 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga, who had an outstanding season as a part of one of the league’s top defenses.

The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner will be held on January 21, 2023, and that’s where the award presentation will be. However, both Tagovailoa and Hufanga hope to be unavailable during that weekend with both of their teams making the playoffs.
