Troy Brown Jr. joins Lakers on minimum contract

Troy Brown Jr., a young wing who played for the Chicago Bulls this past season, will become a Laker.

Coming into this offseason, just about everyone agreed the Los Angeles Lakers needed to add multiple young, productive wings to their roster in order to become competitive again.

The team had been expected to compete for the NBA championship this past season, but due to injuries and its advanced age, it failed to even reach the play-in tournament.

On Thursday, the first day of free agency, the Lakers went ahead and got Troy Brown Jr, to agree to join the team for the veteran minimum salary.

Brown is just 22 years of age, and he stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 215 pounds. With a wingspan of nearly 7 feet, he is a decent athletic specimen.

He was a first-round draft pick in 2018, and in four NBA seasons, he has averaged 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.7 steals in 18.5 minutes per game.

This past season, he hit 35.3 percent of his 3-point attempts as a member of the Chicago Bulls.
