Trojans Wired NCAA Tournament podcast special

A short pod after the loss to Michigan State in #MarchMadness. Much more on these topics on our regular show next week.

We will have plenty of time to discuss the overall state of USC men’s basketball as the offseason develops, and the transfer portal situation evolves, but right now, emotions are understandably raw after USC lost in the NCAA Tournament to Michigan State.

The Trojans didn’t play their best, but they were a limited and not-very-deep team. They were the 10 seed the bracket said they were. A 10 seed is not supposed to make a deep run. Once in a while, a 10 seed gets hot and rides the wave to the Sweet 16 or Elite Eight, but generally, a 10 seed is a team good enough to get to the NCAA Tournament, not good enough to go very far.

Andy Enfield had to deal with the absence of Vince Iwuchukwu for most of this season. That’s a pretty severe handicap for a team which had to rely on Boogie Ellis and Drew Peterson for its offense. This was not a tremendous team which should have gained a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament. This team did really well to get as far as it did. Hopefully we can all see that. We explain that on our instant podcast after the Michigan State loss.

We’ll have much more on our regular weekly show next week with co-host Ian Hest.
