Trojans quarterback Kedon Slovis named to Davey O’Brien watch list

USC Trojans quarterback Kedon Slovis has been named to the preseason Davey O’Brien Award watch list, given to the nation’s top quarterback.

The 2020 college football season is facing an uphill battle to even happen, but the folks in the college football media landscape have not stopped churning out their preseason content – which includes a lot of award watch lists.

The latest is for quarterback Kedon Slovis, who was named to the Davey O’Brien Award watch list, presented to the nation’s best quarterback.

A win would be a first for the Trojans, as this award somehow managed to escape former USC stars, including Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.

Slovis turned a lot of heads in 2019 when, as a true freshman, he took over as the starter in the first game of the season and ended up throwing for over 3,500 yards with an astonishing 71.9% completion rate and a 30-to-9 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Perhaps Slovis, who will face plenty of competition from Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Ohio State’s Justin Fields, among others, will be the first Trojan to take home the honor.
