The 2021 college baseball season is around the corner and preseason honors are rolling in for the University of Tennessee baseball team.

Three Volunteers were named to Baseball America’s Preseason All-America Team Monday.

Max Ferguson, Jake Rucker and Jackson Leath were all recognized by the publication when it named its team.

Ferguson was a first-team selection and is now named to three preseason All-America teams. He was also named an All-America standout by Rawlings/Perfect Game and D1Baseball.com.

He was in the midst of a successful 2020 season when COVID-19 brought a premature ending to the campaign.

Ferguson was second in the Southeastern Conference in stolen bases, with nine. He hit .333 and clubbed two homers and scored 12 runs in 13 games for the Vols last year.

When play was halted UT was 15-2.

Rucker, a third baseman, hit .339 last season, while appearing in all 17 of Tennessee’s games in 2020.

He hit three home runs and drove in 13 runs.

Leath, who was named to the All-America team as a relief pitcher, split time as a starter and a reliever. He made five appearances including two starts and was 4-0 with a 1.45 ERA, while striking out 29 in 18. 2 innings pitched.
