Treylon Burks opts out of Outback Bowl, declares for NFL Draft

Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks is opting out of Outback Bowl, declaring for NFL Draft.

One of the leading receivers in Arkansas football history has closed the chapter of his Razorbacks career.

Junior wide receiver Treylon Burks announced his intention to skip Arkansas’ Outback Bowl against Penn State on January 1 in order to prepare for the upcoming NFL draft this spring.

Burks led the team in every receiving category in 2021, finishing with 66 catches for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns. For his career, Burks has 146 catches (sixth in school history) for 2,399 yards (sixth) and 18 touchdowns (tied for fifth).

Burks is projected to go in the first round of the spring draft. He is tabbed anywhere from No. 11 overall to No. 32 overall. Whenever he is taken, he will be the first Arkansas wideout since Cobi Hamilton in 2013 to be selected.

Burks, a native of Warren, would share the distinction of being drafted out of WHS alongside fellow former Arkansas wide receivers Greg Childs, Jarius Wright and Chris Gragg.

Burks is the first player this season to skip the bowl game and declare professional intent.
