After a rough first offseason with the Tennessee Titans that saw him have asthma and overall conditioning issues, wide receiver Treylon Burks has massively turned things around thus far in 2023.
Burks took part in the Titans’ offseason program and not only looked to be in much better shape, he also displayed more confidence and looked more comfortable than he did as a rookie.
Burks’ showing during the offseason program recently earned him the label of the team’s surprise standout of the offseason in the eyes of ESPN’s Turron Davenport. Here’s what he wrote:
There’s a different swagger with Burks, who reported to the facility with a noticeably leaner build. The 2022 first-round pick is playing at a different speed from his rookie season. Burks said the difference this season is he is in better shape, and the numerous plays he has made during OTAs/minicamp are evidence. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has faith to throw Burks’ way regardless of whether he is wide open or in tight coverage.
There was already a notion that Burks is primed for a breakout season after showing flashes as a rookie, and because he figures to be peppered with targets as a top option in a passing attack that lacks weapons.
But his showing so far this offseason only adds credibility to that belief, which yours truly certainly shares.
