In his last start for Kentucky baseball, in the Lexington Regional, Trey Pooser gave up just five hits and one run in seven innings of work. So when the time came to face Oregon State in the super regionals, it was natural to hand Pooser the ball again. He did not disappoint.
The Beavers offense has been a good one all season, led by probably top five draft pick Travis Bazzana. On Saturday, however, the Oregon State bats were silenced by Pooser. He went seven innings once again, this time surrendering just one hit as the Wildcats rolled 10 – 0.

Kentucky opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI double from Ryan Nicholson. It stayed 1 – 0 until the fifth when the Cats added two more. They broke it open in the seventh, though. That inning featured two throwing errors and two wild pitches, along with a Nicholson homerun in a seven run inning.
The Wildcats and Beavers will meet again on Sunday night at 9:00 PM ET. If Kentucky wins, they’ll head to the College World Series for the first time ever.
