It’s hard to say whether North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance has a shot at being a New England Patriot. The San Francisco 49ers are deciding between drafting him and Alabama quarterback Mac Jones at third overall, per multiple reports.
But Lance could be in the mix, whether the Patriots decide to trade up and get him or see if he’ll fall to 15 when the first round of the draft gets underway on Thursday night. But it sure seems like he’s practiced to be a Patriot. During an interview with Rich Eisen, Lance was asked how his Zoom interview with Bill Belichick went.
“I actually did not say that I had a Zoom meeting with Bill Belichick,” Lance said with a chuckle. “I definitely did not say that, so I don’t know.”
With rumors in New England swirling about trading up for a QB, we had to ask @NDSUFootball @treylance09 how is conversation with Bill Belichick went…. and would you believe he already sounds like a #Patriots QB?#NFL #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/tZMuHuJOey

Ha! Well played.
Eisen admitted to trying to set up Lance with the question, hoping to get information out of the young quarterback that he wouldn’t normal offer with a leading question. But Lance didn’t take the bait, like a practiced veteran.
